Illuminated Front Grille Ring Emblem – Installation Guide

⚠️ Important: Work on a cold, parked vehicle with the ignition off. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before making any electrical connections.

  • 2× Lead wires (positive + negative)
  • Adhesive clips / mounting tabs (varies by size)

Tools & Materials You'll Need

  • Trim removal tool / plastic pry tool
  • Wire stripper & crimping tool
  • Electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing
  • Multimeter (recommended)
  • Zip ties for wire management
  • 10mm socket (to disconnect battery)

Step 1 — Choose the Right Size

Measure your OEM emblem before installing. Match to the chart below:

Step 2 — Remove the OEM Emblem

  1. Open the hood and locate the front grille emblem mounting points from behind the grille.
  2. Use a plastic trim tool to gently release the locking tabs — typically 4–6 clips around the perimeter. Work slowly to avoid cracking the grille surround.
  3. Push the emblem forward out of the grille opening and set aside.
  4. Clean the mounting surface with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry fully.

Step 3 — Route the Wiring

  1. Thread the emblem's lead wires through the grille opening and into the engine bay before seating the emblem.
  2. Route wires away from hot surfaces (exhaust manifold, turbo) and moving parts (belts, fans). Use zip ties to secure every 6–8 inches.
  3. Leave enough slack at the emblem end so the hood can open and close freely.

Step 4 — Connect to a 12V Power Source

The emblem runs on any switched or constant 12V DC source. Switched (ignition-on) is recommended so the emblem turns off with the car.

Option A — Tap an Existing Fuse (Recommended)

  1. Locate the under-hood fuse box. Identify a switched 12V fuse (e.g., parking lights, DRL, or accessory circuit) using your vehicle's fuse diagram.
  2. Use an add-a-fuse adapter to tap the circuit — no wire cutting required.
  3. Connect the emblem's red (positive) wire to the add-a-fuse output lead.

Option B — Splice into an Existing Wire

  1. Identify a switched 12V wire in the engine bay using a multimeter (12V with ignition on, 0V with ignition off).
  2. Strip ~1 cm of insulation from the source wire and the emblem's positive lead.
  3. Join with a butt connector or solder, then cover with heat-shrink tubing.

✅ Tip: Verify your connection with a multimeter before buttoning everything up — you should read 12–14V with the ignition on.

Step 5 — Ground the Emblem

  1. Connect the emblem's black (negative) wire to a clean chassis ground point — a bare metal bolt on the firewall or chassis rail works well.
  2. If using an existing ground bolt, loosen it, slide the ring terminal under the bolt head, and re-torque snugly.
  3. Avoid grounding to painted surfaces — scrape to bare metal if needed.

⚠️ Do not ground to the battery negative terminal directly — use a chassis ground point in the engine bay to keep wiring tidy and safe.

Step 6 — Seat the Emblem & Test

  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Turn the ignition on (or trigger your chosen circuit) and confirm the emblem illuminates before final fitment.
  3. Press the emblem firmly into the grille opening until all clips click into place. Apply even pressure across the full perimeter.
  4. Tuck any excess wire neatly and secure with zip ties.
  5. Close the hood and do a final visual check from the front of the vehicle.

Troubleshooting
